‘A New Headquarter for Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education’ proposes an open building for local citizens to communicate with various educational entities. The proposed design presents two goals; “Open space” and “Headquarter to Use Together”, and includes design strategy for various urban contexts in Huam-dong. Various paths were designed for easy access to the building and open programs were placed on the ground floor. The view and walking paths were extended from the north to the south of Huam-dong, and the plan was formed as a low, divided building that harmonized with the surrounding urban context. Considering the rigid landscape of the U.S. Embassy to be built in front of the site boundary, the specialized street for education was designed within the complex. Through a friendly image of Han-gul, the new education office design is presented to meet the expectations of students and their parents.
