The IKEA Gangdong store is the first case in Korea to adopt IKEA’s “City Center Store” concept. Located within Godeok Biz Valley, a rising core business district in eastern Seoul, it represents a new retail landmark for the region. Unlike conventional suburban showroom-type IKEA stores, the Gangdong branch takes the form of an urban store, occupying the 1st and 2nd floors of “Gangdong IPARK The River”, a mixed-use complex combining a cinema, shopping mall, and offices. By integrating cultural, commercial, and retail infrastructure, the project aims to strengthen the cultural industry base and establish IKEA Gangdong as a vibrant destination where people want to visit and stay.
