The project is to reconstitute the Main Gate Square of Seoul National University into a promenade plaza. The new plaza titled “Lux Veritatis Fit Memoria Futurorum” is to become the university’s representative space fortified with symbolism. To improve the symbolic sculpture at the main gate, Haeahn Architecture engraved the school’s emblem on the axle box. The university’s motto “Veritas Lux Mea,” marked on the emblem, is to disperse in the shape of the leaf of truth throughout the campus, and every trace of great scholars of Seoul National University is to be engraved on the leaf and become part of the history of the new plaza. The space set against the scenic Mt. Gwanak will capture the accumulation of knowledge and time of the future as the meaningful plaza pursues, reflects, and records the unchanging truth and nature.
