The Gwangjang-dong Sports Complex reimagines the stadium as a public platform open to both the city and its citizens, rather than a venue dedicated to a single sport. A second-floor concourse, ground-level arena, lightweight canopies, and folding doors blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an open and accessible environment. Extending this concept across the master plan, previously fragmented facilities are integrated into a unified public park that connects the city, nature, and people while strengthening links to Gwangnaru Station, the Han River, and surrounding amenities. Built upon this public framework, the stadium accommodates a wide range of combat sports—including taekwondo, judo, wrestling, fencing, and boxing—while remaining flexible enough to host concerts, festivals, and civic events. More than a sports venue, it becomes an open park stadium where sports, culture, and everyday public life converge, presenting a new model for urban civic infrastructure.
