Overview
Yangju Art Center perfectly fits into the overall shape and scenery of Mt. Bulgok and fully embraces special experiences of live performances and everyday life in one, making the center a new kind of cultural space. “Byeolsandae,” which means a special stage resembling a mountain, signifies the age-old cultural identity of Yangju City and is also an important motif to narrate the design story of the art center. Yangju Art Center is designed to look like a cultural park inside a forest, within which lies large and small theaters, a café, and a lawn for various events. The large canopy inspired by the nature of the natural park provides a sense of connection embracing various spaces. The pillars inspired by trees surrounding the venue create the feel of an arcade providing people with room to walk and stay around it.
