Chungbuk National University Hospital has been representing the local community through continuous expansion and development since 1991. Especially the new Biomedical Research Center will be the base to elevate the hospital level in the Chungbuk region. Thus, it is critical to set the direction of the expansion that reflects the features of the site and connect the new building to the existing facilities in an efficient manner. The building is designed to secure openness to Seobu-ro(Road) in the east, to blend into the surrounding environment by the mass design that strengthens the visual axis, and to give a sense of unity to the entire hospital complex with the horizontally emphasized elevation. The path connected to the main building not only serves its original purpose but also creates a new frontality of the hospital, and will function in the future as a hospital street extended to the atrium and the south of the site. This will become a new face, and an important key element in the future expansion of Chungbuk National University Hospital.
