Overview

The Korea University New Engineering Hall is a symbolic building that was built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the College of Engineering. Therefore, it focuses on the facade that has a symbolic nature that cannot be seen in existing university buildings, while fulfilling the functions of each program for an educational research facility. The elevation is formed vertically and horizontally so that it can be signified as a ‘Monumental Sculpture’. The vertical pattern gives an impressive frontality from the front park, and at the same time creates a deep shadow caused by the sunrise from the east. Whereas the horizontal mass, formed as a community zone consisting of seminar rooms and resting areaes, creates a functional symbol that connects the flow of the square at the front and the green area at the back.
