The vast area of land measuring 147 acres in total, designated initially as Yeongheung Park, was reborn as Yeongheung Forest Park due to the impending sunset law by the Act on Special Cases Concerning Parks for Private Development. The once abandoned forest turned into a park, representing Suwon that leads the culture of forests, gardens, and arboretums. Through Gureummaru-gil designed to offer three-dimensional and circular paths, visitors to the park can enjoy the entire forest and park, and “Forest with a Story” allows youths to grow together and nurture a love for life, while Yeongtong Garo Park, Youth Experiential Forest, Visitor Center, and Doran Madang offer daily park and garden cultures to citizens and visitors alike. As its name “Yeongheung,” meaning “eternal prosperity,” suggests, Yeongheung Forest Park is to become an exemplary park to promote the heartfelt participation of Suwon citizens, who will ceaselessly nurture and care for the beautiful future garden.
