Initial purpose of RYSE Hotel was to reveal its original landmark identity within Hongdae area and city context. Preserving a long history with peculiar Hongdae culture and many users since 1983 in the name of Seokyo Hotel. Main image of hotel is expressed by façade facing and responding to the 40m main street of 40m in front and the narrow street in backside of the building. The lower part of the building is slightly stepped back into the site functioning as transparent mass so that the context between the front and back of the building, can communicate briskly, and be a foothold for various culture interchange for Hongdae area.
